Nana's birthday surprise....

For Nana's b-day  we wanted to do something fun and surprise her at work with a treat.  She is working as a long term sub in the office at an elementary school and we were sure we could surprise her. That day also happens to be Erin and Matt's anniversary so we decided to make 2 fun treats at 1 time.  I saw this on Pinterest and thought it looked cool (click it and it will take you to the blog it that put it on Pinterest):

After going back and looking at it now I see that it didn't even have directions which was really no big deal because I didn't plan on reading them.  I thought the pictures were pretty self explanatory.  I would do a couple of things differently but it worked.  We just melted dipping chocolate and went to town!

With the extra chocolate from the bowls we dipped cookies.  That was the treat we were going to drop off at Nana at school.  The chocolate bowls were for ice cream that evening...but we all ate so much when we took Nana out for dinner that we didn't end up having them for a couple more days and they lasted (besides people breaking them to eat them) just fine.
We are thinking there was probably a better alternative to this step than the one we took but it was fun!

There were some casualties that we taste tested...
...I almost forgot before the popping step we added the melted vanilla too.  You see we didn't spray the pan so almost all the chocolate bowls had holes in the bottom so we just dipped them in the vanilla.  Which was no problem because we dipped the cookies in half chocolate and half vanilla so we were ready for that mistake.
We loaded up and took a picture outside the school before surprising Nana....
..only to find out that that was the wrong school.  The first one was the last school she subbed at...and to be far they both started with the same letter...
She was surprised!

And a couple of days later when the Mexican food had finally settled we had ice cream in the chocolate bowls. :)
