Father's Day

I am a picture taking kind of person.  Aaron is not.  He is a PTPP (picture taking party pooper).  For Father's Day I gave him the gift of only taking 2 pictures the whole day (we also gave him a Star Wars t-shirt, because you can never have enough of those.)

Picture #1:  A special breakfast that Jake and I made for Aaron before he had to go to meetings before church.  Have I ever mentioned Aaron is the ward clerk (If you aren't LDS: the Ward Clerk takes care of all the records-births & deaths, where people live and where they go when they move so that there next Ward has their info., budget...I am sure there is a better way to explain it...and there is more to it than that, but you get it right?)?  We had sausage and gravy biscuits, scrambled eggs, and grits.
Picture #2:  Aaron leaving for church before us with his tissue paper boutonniere Jake made him.  We made them in Primary (children's Sunday school, music time, and devotional time for children ages 3-11) for all the men in the Ward.  Have I ever mentioned I am the Primary President?
We got to church early to give the men their flowers.  They all seemed so proud to wear them and the Primary children were proud to have made them. Primary sang sweetly and were surprised when the Priesthood stood up and sang back to them.  If you are Mormon than you know the song...I can't remember what it is called but it says: "Teacher do you love me?  Teacher do you care for me?..."  We changed the "teacher" to "father".  In the song the children sing to the teachers and the next verse the teachers come in with: "Yes, my child I love you...."  Well my genius chorister in Primary had been practicing with the Priesthood so that when the children performed they would then be serenaded by the men singing back to them...{Tears!}  It was wonderful and the kiddos faces were adorable.  They went from huh?, to shock, to smiles.  We have the best chorister ever!  Thank you Gidget. :)

We all had dinner at Nana and Papa's (I should have had my camera to take pictures of everyone but Aaron but I didn't...No 3 generations pictures for both the Harmon's and the Graves'...I will just have to keep my mental pictures...).  The men shot guns-at which point Jake said he felt like Little Britches (more on that in a couple of posts...) and the women chatted.  It was a very good day.  Happy Father's Day!

An unexpected visitor and Support.

Yesterday after work, Jake and I were hanging out (Aaron was at the library studying for 2 tests he has this week), when the door bell rang. I actually thought it was on TV, but Jake convinced me to check. I am glad I did because my sister-in-law Erin was standing at the door! She had come up to Charlotte to take a test for a job and dropped in for a visit. We had a great time spending the rest of the day with her. Jake was dying to show her his Wii Lego Star Wars game, which worked great for me because I wouldn't let her in my kitchen until I filled up the dishwasher. While they played I unloaded the clean dishes and reloaded the dirty one. (It used to be Aaron's job to unload, but he is a little too busy with school and work right now. Jake still isn't quit tall enough to put the stuff in the top cabinets so I am left to do it...I am great at loading things but unloading? Not so much...The dishwasher, the dryer...then when I fold the clothes-the laundry baskets...I am not a fan of any of these things.). I will never leave the clean dishes in the dishwasher so that the pile of rinsed (or soaking...), but not washed dishes pile up again...Not that Erin would have cared, but I did!

Erin brought some fun books that Nana found to give to us. Jake doesn't know they are for home schooling, but the rest of us do! Erin couldn't remember the story behind them...Something about a school giving them a way for free so Nana picked them up for us...I will find out on Thursday because we are headed down to visit for the day. I will call you tomorrow Nana to make sure that will actually work for you! :) Thank you Nana-some people think we are crazy for home schooling, but I am glad to know that you support our decision. It really means a lot.

I thought there was something spilt on the green book before I read the title: The Science of Really gross things: Grossology. Jake thought it was hysterical (so did I)! It teaches you the science behind things like farts, vomit, and zits. Perfect for a boy! I am really excited (so is Jake) about the one titled: Mirrors: Finding Out the Properties of Light. Thanks again Nana!!!

Surprised...No shocked is a better word...

...To describe Jake when he found out we were going to Seattle to see Nee and Papa. Mom sent a photo album that was empty except for the first few pages that said: Merry Christmas Jake (flip page), Here is an early Christmas present. You can use this album for the pictures you take (flip page), when you come out to Seattle to visit us. How about coming out really soon... (flip page), Like...Today! He read it out loud (Aaron took a video while I took pictures...Jake didn't seem to notice that he should have been dressed and out the door for school when Daddy gets home from work. He was to busy reading a book while eating breakfast), and when he was done reading he looked up and waited for an explanation. He thought it was a joke and when we told him it wasn't he had to take his glasses off and wipe the sweet tears from his eyes. I tried to get a picture of that but it was all blurry...But I got all the others.

The package:
Opening the package:
Excitement:
...And then back to "did I just read that right?":
And the shock is setting in...
It's starting to sink in...The page he is looking at is the print out of our ticket confirmation.
He was saying something when I snapped this picture, but it is so cute.
This one is after the tears...
This is after he realized it was really true.

Even on the way to the airport he was still asking us if we were really going because he thought it might be a joke. We joke a lot, but we would never joke about that!!!!
