On an upswing...Tender Mercy #2

My list of things I wanted to do didn't quite get done today...My goals may have been a little lofty, but I did get a lot done.  I baked some cookies that came out totally flat (I got distracted and only put 2 of the 2 1/4 cups of flour it called for and the butter was a little too soft), and I am waiting for the banana bread to finish up in the oven.  I don't have really high hopes for it because the batter was thicker than usual...

I did clean our bathroom, pick up our room, vacuum twice (and I already need to again), and a lot of laundry.  There is a load for me to fold and put away in the dryer and one to transfer from the washer into the dryer...and fold and put away.  I did make a menu and grocery shop...but I already altered the menu because I ran out of time and we just got a piece of pizza from Sam's club after we grocery shopped.  We found vanilla chips at Sam's so I even made some vanilla chip cookies (instead of chocolate chip) that I will like....doesn't get me any closer to being skinny, but that wasn't really going to happen today any way. :)

I am going on Monday to pick out and buy paint and the dinning room will be painted on Tuesday!  I didn't get to the book cases, but what is a couple of more days.  It will be a fun project for Jake and I after co-op on Monday.  We can organize our library together!

My to do list didn't get done but I feel like I am on the upswing.  We had to vacuum two times because Jake and his friends had a great time playing in the backyard and they tracked in some of that fun.  How lucky are we that our neighbors have three grandsons that get along great with Jake and visit often!?  The laundry isn't done because we are blessed to have too many clothes, towels, blankets, and sheets!  The cookies are flat but they still taste like cookies and the thin crispy ones soak up milk better any way!

The best part of the day is that Jake, by choose, is sitting at his desk (while I am sitting at mine typing and Aaron is happy watching the Bobcats because they are winning!) working on a project that he is very excited about.  He is reading a series now that has inspired him to start his own book (more on this later.  I really will post about this later because this is a big deal!  The boy who hates writing asked me if authors make good money!!!)!  He asked to stay up late to work on the map of the land he is creating...Why am I in a funk when I am so blessed?

I relearned  (for the 7, 945 time) a lesson today:  That if you look for your blessings you will always find them.  So what if the cookies are flat-they are still a sweet treat, not a disaster!  Tender mercy of the Lord # 2 of 2014 (that I have taken the time to notice...): ask and you shall receive.  I asked to feel better and get out of my funk and I stepped back and saw the blessings in little everyday things that I would normally grumble about.

One more thing...I  also cleaned out the freezer and now there is room for the huge pack Eggo waffles from Sam's club.  Jake is a happy camper. :)

Highs and Lows...

High: I am feeling less stressed since my house is picked up.
Low: I think the cleaning products affected my vision because it really isn't as awesome as I thought it was...Bummer.

High: Even though it isn't as picked up as I deluded myself into thinking it was, it is still soooooooo much better. Also, I have time to finish the job today!
Low: I don't really want to though...But I will. Right after we take our crazy puppy on a walk. We are going to see if she can walk a whole mile today. :)

High: The Pine Wood Derby is on Saturday!
Low: The procrastination of actually making the car must end. Aaron and Jake finally started it last night...They cut it out last night. Sanding happens today. Painting tomorrow. Along with wheels and weights tomorrow night or Sat. morning. Nothing like waiting until the last minute! I have nothing to do with this though. This is totally a guy thing.

High: It really is feeling and looking like Spring around here!
Low: That means 100 degree with weather, without access to a pool is only a few months away. :(

Highs and Lows

High: Finally have a puppy!
Low: They pee on the floor...But she is doing really good. I have caught her starting to pee a couple of times picked her up, and she stopped and finished outside...

High: The floor is cleaner than ever before!...(in the process at least)
Low: ...because ever bit of paper or dust bunny becomes a tasty nugget for a puppy.

High: I was supposed to work today and I didn't have too.
Low: I didn't have to, because my sweet Jake is sick. Fever and snotty nose and all. Oh joy...

High: Puffs plus with lotion tissues are the best.
Low: We have been through 2 boxes in the past 2 days and there where mountains of them on every surface Jake was close too.

High: Airborne has helped me not get sick in the past and I am chugging it right now....
Low: It is almost gone and going to the store loses all it appeal when Jake is sick.

High: Sadie (the peeing puppy) is finally snoozing! She has been playing all morning..
Low: Time to stop blogging and get some dust bunnies taken care of while she is asleep...sigh. And of course cuddle a sick boy and hope not to get sick in the process...Days off aren't really days off when you are a mommy...But I wouldn't have it any other way!

Have a great day!

This weeks Highs and Lows...

Have you checked out the awesome blog Memoirs of Mrs. Harris ? You need to if you want an awesome take on the highs and lows of life and motherhood. When she decided to link up and see what other peoples highs and lows were for the week I had to do it! Here are my highs and lows for the week...

High: We had an awesome play date today that made me clean up the piles of stuff...
Low: Jake was a witness to me "stuffing away the stuff"...His bottom drawer of his dresser is refilled with all the clothes he out grew that I just took out of it...and several other random things I didn't have time to find a home for. To this he said something like "what did you do with my mommy? That was a kid thing to do!"

High: This play date was for me and Jake. Erin is a great friend of mine and her son is a great friend to Jake.
Low: Did we just contaminate our friends with sick germs...(you will see why I say this next...)

High: We made heart shaped home made pizza's to continue our love week.
Low: Almost immediately after eating it Jake was in tears with a stomach ache. I don't think it was the pizza, the rest of us are fine. The stomach bug is making its rounds at school and it may have just found its way into our house.

High: Penny and Pooha (in-laws dogs we are puppy sitting) are SO fun to have around! Our home is in need of a dog bad.
Low: Unfortunately we don't know Pooha's (she is an older dog), "I really have to go pee you crazy humans! Let me out NOW" face because the poor thing tinkled in Jake's room while I was getting him settled with a puke bucket by the bed, just in case...

High: My legs are recovering from my exercising the past couple of days.
Low: The reason they are recovering is because I didn't exercise today...

High: Monday is Valentine's Day and Aaron doesn't have school or work!
Low: Since Valentine's Day is Monday and grocery stores are busy for ever holiday imaginable, I have to work from 10:30-7 (might as well say the best part of the day...I hardly ever have to work any time other than when Jake is in school...) on Saturday. I am missing Jakes' b-ball game...bummer!

High: It snowed last night and already melted with no ice problems at all!
Low: It didn't snow enough to give us the chance to have a fun PJ day off...maybe next time..

Do you have highs and lows from the week you want to share? Come on people venting always make you feel better!
