Today Was Awesome

(this was Tuesday March 31st...I uploaded the pictures and then forgot about adding words and posting this!)

It started with Jake doing his end of the year testing at the library and snapping this picture.  He is a rebel.

And hanging the first load of wash on the line! 

These little beauties were growing in the grass...It is officially spring!

Jake did a little whittling while I hung up the clothes.

Sadie hung out.

We opened the windows and let the amazing spring breeze in...

I am finally starting a gallery wall in the living room...here is the before. 

I finally get to use these pretty clips I found at Target!

I took these pictures at Biltmore Estates and developed them a while ago...and now I have the perfect place for them!

Aaron came home early and we took full advantage of the afternoon by playing some cornhole in the front yard. 

I had to post this because Sadie is adorable.  This is another shot of the beginning of the gallery wall...It still looks like this...

Jake spent some time on the trampoline.

And we used the grill for the first time in 2015!

It was pretty much a perfect day!  I am not ready for hot, hot summer days but I could live in spring for quite some time happily!

I hope all the nerds out there had an amazing day today because it only happens once in a life time!

This week so far...

    Did you know you are allowed to fly RC helicopters in Nee and Papa's house? 

And while we are looking at the guys flying the helicopter we can also check out the gorgeous new laminate wood floors that they had put in!

I noticed on Monday at co-op that almost all the vehicles in the parking lot were Suburbans, minivans, and other SUV's.  Not surprising for a Christian homeschool co-op that is only a handful of families that add up to be a lot of students! Our Jeep is one of the smaller vehicles.  I guess our new (to us) Ford Fusion (more on that after we actually get it next week....!) will be out of place but I don't mind at all.   :)

I don't mind dusting but I often face some causalities because I am clumsy.  My "when pigs fly" pig was my latest...but he will survive.  Super glue is a magnificent thing.  Sorry pig. 

Why yes I will open the windows because it is so nice outside...for two days in a row (today was humid but it cooled off after the rain).  Hello spring my dear friend!  I hope you stick around for a while because although I am ready for winter to be over I am not ready for summer...no offense summer.

Well played Kraft macaroni and cheese.  The Star Wars movie doesn't come out until December but you already have us hook, line, and sinker with your Star Wars boxes....

...and your pasta that slightly resembles Yoda and C3PO (and other Star Warsy type shapes) but tastes kind of gross and mushy.

Ignore my crazy hair (and face) but we had to document our first meal of 2015 in the sun room.

Another good grade in math!  But mostly I just had to post this picture to remember that this paper was on the floor and Lucy walked over it with dirty paws.  There was a whole lot of doggy prints going on! :)

I saw this bumper sticker and knew my guys would enjoy it.  It says, "Honk if you have to Poop".  Some of you will chuckle, while others will roll your eyes.  I did both. :)  I should have known that Aaron would ask me if I honked.  No I did not, but he would have.

At 7 something the other night Jake was, by choice, reading about black holes, dark matter, and dark energy in an Astronomy book.  I love that. :)

Winter Days In The South....

 ...some times means short sleeves while tossing the football with your dad.

And of course the smell of the fire from the leaves burning in the fire pit.  I will be sad when that pile is all burnt because I have enjoyed feeding my guys snacks while they work and play together.  

These short sleeve winter days also mean teaching Sadie to catch her Frisbee in mid air.  And she is so proud of herself for learning it.

 She probably loves that we all hoot and holler when she catches it.  She always brings it back to me even though I am not the one throwing it.  She knows her mommy is yelling the loudest.

And a little reward...Frozen Diet Dr. Pepper over flows when it melts a little and you open it!

Warm winter days in the South also mean that guys will wrestle.

I just don't get it.

Sadie doesn't either.  She can't quit decide if they are playing or beating each other up.

She is trying to get in on the action and intervene at the same time.

And it always ends like this...hopefully right before some one gets hurt.  This time we were lucky and no one did.

And warm winter days in the South mean relaxing while checking out the pictures in the clouds.

I almost missed this guy surfing on a heart.

Dogs love these days the best because it means they get to share their yard with their family.

This all happened, last Saturday, in the evening after Jake got home from Merit Badge College.  He made this cool contraption in his electricity class.  I need to take more pictures of it.  On the back you can see all the places he had to solder together.

He was there from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm (a long day that I am so counting as a school day!) but when it is like spring in the winter you have to take advantage of it. 

We have a little wood pile now thanks to Aaron and his dad cutting down a limb that was hanging over the drive way.  Now we wait for it to dry out and we can use it next Winter to sit around our fire pit and roast hot dogs and marshmallows on a day that doesn't feel like spring in winter.

Aaron and I went out to lunch and Sam's Club while Jake was gone all day.  That is two dates in a week!  That is a record for us!


In the South you never know what you are going to get.  This winter has been mild but we still cherish the days that don't feel like winter at all.  We are getting ready for what we are hoping will be some real winter.  As I am typing this the wind is so loud outside, bringing in a cold front, that I can hear it over the NBA All Star 3 Point competition on TV.  We are crossing our fingers for snow on Monday.  We haven't had any except the flurries Jake saw in the middle of the night on Halloween.  We are due some real winter...but I am glad we had some warm days and the memories that go along with them.
