A good day.

I am so excited to have my camera back that I can't stop taking pictures.  So, here is the day in a life of a homeschooling family, taking the dogs on a field trip to play with their cousin dog while getting ready for a craft show, and the fair is in town and Nana works at it so she gave us tickets... :)

I love how the sun is shining right on Jake in this picture.
Waiting for the ride to start...
...and while it was going.  (Don't worry he didn't lose his glasses he had the carnie hand them to me so he wouldn't lose them...note to self: wash Jake's glasses.)

Before the ride starts:
During the ride. :)  He is riding with a friend (I can't remember her name) he made while getting on one of those rides that looks like a pirate ship.  They ended up riding 3 or 4 rides together before heading separate ways and then Jake meet another friend (I remember his name was Cameron. I remember this because I am watching Modern Family and Cameron is my favorite character on the show) going on another ride.  Jake is a pretty awesome person and the world would be a better place if more people were like him.
This is the Freak Out which Jake rode 5 times (3 times in a row)
\

I loved the lights on this ride and now I love this picture.
All in all a great day.

Things we learned: Fair food really isn't good-not even the funnel cakes.  Which is great because it will save $ next year when we go.

Things I was reminded: I love my camera and Jake is an amazing person.

What we have been up to...

*Searching for my camera and missing all sorts of memories while it was lost.  It was under the seat in my car by the way...I looked there 5,397 times but it wasn't there.  On the 5,398th time is was there.

*Being sick and staying in bed...
*Finding good deals and...
...painting them and distressing them.

*Putting some of my pieces in a consignment shop.  The side table is one I painted and distressed.
*Enjoying the last few weeks of flip-flops of the season and realizing I left the house like this one day...
*Painting...
*More painting...
*Did I mention I have been painting?  I am doing a craft and antique show next week so that is pretty much all I will be doing until then!

The Debate and my camera...and Number the Stars

*Romney-1    Obama-0

Enough said...Except:  One down, 2 to go.  I can't wait to see Ryan embarrass Biden next week.

*I found my camera. Expect a "this is what 11 looks like" photo shot soon.  :)

*I finished another of Lois Lowry's books and it was another great, quick read.  It is called Number the Stars and is about a family in Denmark during WWII.   I would add it to my "Books I Have Read in 2012" page but I still haven't figured out why it won't let me...Making a mental note to have Jake read it when we study WWII.

Huh?...

All I was trying to do is add to my list of books I have read in 2012 and this screen pops up every time I hit go to edit the page....Yes, thank you blogger I know your interface has changed.  Now can I update my reading list?...No? Okay, thanks...for nothing. :)  (It may help if I actually read what the page that pops up is telling me to do but I just don't want to right now.  I want to edit my reading list...)

36.)   Messenger by Lois Lowry (another great book-the ending however was not my favorite.  Book 4 comes out tomorrow!)

Update complete.  Now I am going to read some more and enjoy a dark rainy day.  I love these kind of  days. :)

One more thing...how can it possibly be Oct. 1st already.  Even Jake keeps talking about how fast this year is going by.  That answers one of my life questions at least:  At what age do you start realizing that time is flying by and not taking forever to get to Christmas, your birthday, and summer vacations?  11.  The answer is 11.  Which also reminds me:  we need a "This is what 11 looks like" photo shoot...now if I could just find my camera.  Can you believe I can't find my camera?  *sigh*...

Flying With Papa G

A couple (few maybe...)  weeks ago Papa G. rented a plane and took Jake flying.  My dad is a pilot...well technically he was a pilot-he is retired, but he can still fly so he is still a pilot.  They had a blast and Jake even got to fly the plane.  I had Jake take the camera with him and he took a ton of pictures from inside the plane way up. I was hoping for a picture of the two of them or each other inside the cockpit but guys don't think like that so I will take what I can get.  :)

At the airport they landed at and had lunch they saw this.  Someone that runs the airport made a CD and put this picture on the front:
Guess who, at the time, owned and was flying that plane in an airshow...My dad!  We used to spend our summer vacations camping and following my dad to his airshows.  He sold his plane when we went to college...That makes me feel bad every time I think about it...I didn't do so great in college-I had a little too much fun to find time to actually study and good to class.

Thanks Papa G. for taking Jake on a fun filled day that he will never forget!

A field trip, science lesson, recess, and gym all in one...

This is why I love homeschooling (this was a few weeks ago when it was still HOT) and this is all in our backyard...

I like to carry a stick and swing it up high in front of my face because there are always tons of spider webs across the trail.
Turkey...

2 dogs...
Person...
Tiny, little, deer...
Here it is again...see how tiny it is?  (I think it is the little baby deer that the dogs scared to death one time...Did I post about that?  I will have to go back and check...)
Bigger deer...running maybe?
Raccoon...
(how cute are raccoon prints?)
Jake found a stick that would make prints that looked like a completely different print..that we didn't get picture's of for some reason...
Crazy, running fools. :)

Sweaty head...
Crazy dogs...

That love Jake...
Dirty dog...
Exoskeleton...
Leaf print...
Refreshing spray...
(That isn't a crime scene.  Papa Harmon was trying to grow grass)
Notice Penny in the background.  She doesn't like this game like Sadie does. :)
Yep, it was that hot...
And this was all before breakfast.
I love homeschooling. :)
